Dear Neighbors,
As your new Director of House and Grounds , I will do my best
to ensure that club property and structures are kept as functional and
attractive as the budget allows.
I am pleased to announce that during the month of May, we
were able to plant two new trees in anticipation of the eventual demise of some
of our current specimens. The two new trees were both planted to the left of the
kiddie pool as you face our beach.
The two specimens chosen were a Kwanzan Cherry and a Honey
Locust. They should both provide years of much needed shade and the Cherry in
particular should put on a brilliant display of spring color in the weeks
leading up to future Memorial days.
I would ask your indulgence in helping these trees get off to
a healthy start by not leaning or hanging things from them and of course keeping
all of our children from attempting to climb them in any way. We all know how
kids love to climb, but it is very traumatic for young trees. The last thing we
want to do is to have to replace them at additional expense to us all.
Among other items, I plan to install a simple cold water
shower at the beach gate to compliment the foot shower currently in place. I am
sure there is plenty more that will need doing as the year progresses.
I would like to thanks and acknowledge Peter Cook for the
excellent work that he does in keeping the club in such good working order and
for keeping the grounds as attractive as always. I do not believe that I have
ever encountered a person as passionate about their work as Peter is about his.
This level of caring and attention to detail are hard to find, and I thank him
on behalf of us all.
I would ask members to please feel free to contact me (
house-grounds@sapc.org
) with any issue concerning any aspect of the clubs House and Grounds. This
includes both positive and the negative feedback. Only if I first know what your
concerns are might I have a chance to address them. No issue is too trivial, so
please contact me.
I also ask you assistance in helping us keep the grounds as
beautiful as possible. To this end I would ask that we all please return all
beach chairs neatly to the screened in porch when you are done with them. Of
course, please pick up and dispose of any trash that you and yours might
generate throughout the day. There are receptacles located near the women’s
lavatory.
Lastly, I thank Rich Kelley for the work he did in this same
position before I came a aboard this year. His work last year goes a long way in
making my job easy this year.
I am looking forward to a successful year for SAPC in 2005,
and want to thank you all for the opportunity to serve our community in this
small way. It’s the little things that make a community like our’s a special
place to live. Thank you for your support and your help.
Sincerely,
Bill Lynch
